Senior Corrosion Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Corrosion Engineer to help build the corrosion and protective coatings practice including specifications, details, design practices, references and perform project specific coatings design on projects.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for technical oversight and review of pipeline design work for cathodic protection impacts
  • Develops design of pipeline corrosion control and cathodic protection systems
  • Reviews detailed designs for corrosion prevention systems, cost estimates and bid documents
  • Assists in the evaluation of bids and the selection of contractors
  • Serves as project manager for corrosion-related capital improvement projects
  • Responsible for engineering service and support in the planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and analysis of corrosion control
  • Develops  solutions to technical problems involving unconventional or advanced problem solving techniques that may not have been previously encountered
  • Prepares complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations and studies utilizing specialized analytical skills
  • Involved in exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation
  • Responsible for acting independently and making authoritative decisions on technical matters
  • Travel may be required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 15-20 years directly related professional experience
  • Corrosion control and cathodic protection experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • NACE Certification
  • Experience with forensic evaluation and testing of coating systems and metals – methods including non-destructive tests (e.g., holiday coating tests,  electromagnetic and ultrasonic pipeline condition tests, XRF composition analyzers for alloys) and destructive tests 
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and construction phase of small, medium, and large sized water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, and innovative techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team
  • Creative, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems
  • Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints
  • Knowledge of Federal and State safety standards pertaining to corrosion control
  • Coating systems expertise
