EMERGING CONTAMINANTS INNOVATION MANAGER

We are seeking an Emerging Contaminants Innovation Manager. This position will reside within our Carollo Research Group.

- Leading emerging contaminants projects and pursuits including R&D, monitoring, regulatory tracking, and alternatives assessments.
- Participating in and leading applied research related to emerging contaminants including but not limited to PFAS, microplastics, and 6PPD-Quinone.
- Organizing, coordinating, and leading a Emerging Contaminants Community of Practice.
- Working with Subject Matter Experts across contaminants categories and water types to identify emerging challenges and develop R&D opportunities.
- Providing national thought-leadership on emerging contaminants on behalf of Carollo by participating in national committees, presenting at conferences, publishing peer-reviewed articles, and crafting digestible media such as short videos and podcasts.
- Test innovative treatment concepts for emerging contaminants at Carollo’s Applied Research Center.
- Lead technical support for pilot testing of advanced water treatment for emerging contaminants.
- Testing and analysis quality control.
- Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports and electronic deliverables.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline. PhD preferred.
- 2-10+ years of directly-relevant experience in research related to emerging contaminants including but not limited to PFAS.
- Experience pursuing and managing R&D projects for organizations such as the Water Research Foundation (WRF), US Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP), or state agencies.
- Knowledge of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems. Knowledge of advanced treatment for reuse and sludge/biosolids handling preferred.
- Experience conducting applied research on treatment, monitoring, sensors, or source investigation.
- Experience conducting or analyzing pilot- and bench-scale treatment testing.
- Working knowledge of public health, toxicity, and regulatory development as it pertains to emerging contaminants.
- Application of engineering principles including critical thinking, analysis, statistics, and innovative techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with groups and individuals at all levels in an organization.
- Highly motivated, creative, articulate, and self-starting.
- Proficiency in R or python preferred.
